SBSC July 2022 Ride - Old World Village - 07/09/2022
For the SBSC July 2022 Ride (07/09/2022), we took a nice cruise out to Huntington Beach, ending at the Old World Village. The Old World Village is kind of Orange County's version of Alpine Village in Torrance, but it's in far better shape than Alpine is these days. It's a German-inspired "town" with shops and restaurants. They have a great German Deli, as well as a great Beer Garden, with good food and great beer. There is even a Disney-Small World-like Matterhorn, lol. It was a fun ride and a nice discovery for most folks on that Saturday. We will go here again!
SBSC May 2022 Ride - Hermosa Beach Museum - 05/07/2022
For the May 2002 SBSC ride (05/07/2022), we rode into Palos Verdes and through the Beach Cities to get to our ride destination which was the little-known Hermosa Beach Museum. Located around PCH and Pier Ave, the museum is housed in the old Hermosa Beach Gym, where they actually shot the gym scenes for the 1976 horror flick, "Carrie".
There were so many cool things to see at the museum: old surfboards and skateboards, artifacts from the old Hermosa Beach Biltmore Hotel, the Hermosa Beach Theater, actual, old Lifeguard Towers, and a ton of memorabilia from the city's rich music history, among other items from the history of this great seaside town.
After the Museum tour, we rode to and ate at one of the South Bay's newest pizza bar restaurants, "Pizza Coast Hiway" in Redondo Beach. It got a thumbs up from the scooter club - great food and drinks!
